Monster Cables = Corporate Bully

Wait, really?

Yeah. A quick search brought up a blog entry which mentions that this si still an ongoing lawsuit. And as well the family that owns the course is taking in $1 donations to help pay legal fees (So far they've payed $100k of an estimated 250). They do the donations through ebay where you bid on $2 coupons for their course because you. Here's the link

Essentially they say in their listing they're fighting the good fight for all the other small businesses that have been forced to settle because they can't afford ongoing legal fees.

This is merely a suggestion, but if there are any of us who have extended posting privileges on other forums (such as the FDP or TGP) then a new topic should be opened, with a link to this thread, asking members to consider boycotting Monster Cables. Now I really don't know what can of legal worms that might open (not being a lawyer), but if it's on solid legal footing then it might be worth considering as a first step towards a boycott of Monster Cables by the music community.

Hi, BruisedOoze.

Not to point out the obvious, but that particular lawsuit is actually the point of this thread ;).

Wow. *laughs* Just tar and feather me now. Serves me right for not reading the OP's original articles :o

In my defense though you could have stopped me with posting this when you replied to my last post. Either that or you know exactly where I was going. :p

I really don't like Monster. Some jerk salesman convinced my mom that she needed a 1000 series cable for her BluRay player. I'm going to return it and chew him out. It's a 768P TV and he's recommending a cable that is beyond even 1080P...

Not to mention the same cable is on Amazon for $8.95. **** Monster, and the stores that carry their cables exclusively. I hate when salesmen are willing to lie through their teeth so they can make a couple bucks, causing electronics-ignorant people to waste hundreds of dollars - and I don't need someone without a high school education telling me how to set up a home theater system. I'm all for corporations maximizing profit, but this is just unethical, and its the really the foundation behind Monster cables. At least sell them for a fair price, maybe $20 or $30 instead of $5.

Sorry, mate. I honestly thought that after the subtle hint kserg and me gave, You'd notice ;).

Happens to the best of us.

BTW I find it far more hilarious when some joker brings up several years dead beginner gear threads, and the old-timers argue about the correct solution for the OP. :D:D

Sam

I have to agree with that. When my folks moved house, they got a surround sound system for the living room. I had to go back to set it up, and the sales guy had basically told them they needed this £40 HDMI cable. Not only was it a rip off for the cable, but I peeved me that he told them they needed it, when there was a HDMI cable already in the surround sound box!

Crooks :scowl:

"If you sue me, the case will go to judgment, and I will hold the court's attention upon the merits of your claims--or, to speak more precisely, the absence of merit from your claims--from start to finish. Not only am I unintimidated by litigation; I sometimes rather miss it."

What a badass
That was my favorite part as well! :D
