I've used the Fog extensively for fizzy short decay and synthy character. I don't find sound processing a problem, although it can lose some tuba like qualities. On the whole I prefer to run compression into it and then into a preamp because I'm not necessarily looking for a particular sound. I want a fuzz that's funky, and this does the job.

Thanks. I agree, that is probably the best video currently. I was amazed of all the different ways you can use the pedal even though it is tiny.
I have one of these, picked it up for £59 and I tell you, it is the best fuzz pedal ever, I compared it to a bigmuff and a wolly mammoth in the shop, and they couldn't stand up to it. With the squeeze on max, you can get a raw, filthy sound suitable for any kind of garage or rock, and with squeeze on minimum and the fuzz and tone at max, the fizz you get on top of the sound is immense, it will give you the time is running out sound pitch perfect.
I got this pedal for it's synthy quality. You can tweak it to sound more like regular fuzz but it always kinda has a different character to it.

A Big Muff is quite a different beast. A wolly mammoth pretty comparable. I checked it against a Buffalo (kind of a mini WM) and it sounded pretty flat and one-dimensional in comparison. The Fog does that synthy silicon fuzz thing pretty well and the options (pulsewidth and tone) are useful, but the basic sound is what you would expect from that pricepoint and build quality. So IMHO, not bad but far away from "the best fuzz pedal ever"...
I've had issues with high output passive basses into the Fog, it has lots of sag and the fuzz is unstable. I've only had one WM clone that works in all situations, the Smoder Fuzz Heavy, it has a clean blend. For a synthy fuzz, I absolutely love Small Sound Big Sound Mini. It's worth more than 5 useless Fogs.

I can't believe the difference in sound quality from Mooer's own demo to the Prymaxe one. Pretty funny, actually. I would GAS for this pedal if it wasn't for the fact that it apparently does not play nice with a buffered signal. IMHO it's a surprisingly good "synth" type fuzz, based on the Prymaxe demo.
yes, this Prymaxe demo made me buy it....just got it a few days ago but haven't had the time to really play it......but it's not really the type of fuzz I wanted so thinking of selling it. I just bought the SolidGoldFX Imperial
edit: As stated above, I just received this pedal a week ago and finally got a chance to try it out in a band mix last night. It played for 30 sec and died. Needless to say it's in the garbage can right now. I won't even spend $ on shipping it back. First item bought on Reverb......not saying it's Reverb's fault but it's not helping their cause if their sellers sell bad merchandise....Never buying Mooer again though and that's for sure
edit#2: Did not throw it in the garbage but contacted the seller (music store in TO) and he said I should take it to a music store nearby that sells Mooer pedals and get a replacement since it's new. He said it's happened to another buyer too. In other words, you get what you pay for sometimes.
Edit #3: they didn't have a replacement so they called the rep (he wasn't available) so they said I'd be hearing from them the next day. I never heard anything so I just sent it back for a refund.

Also, active and passive basses get different sounds from this pedal. A passive bass gets a more regular sounding fuzz and an active bass sounds more synthy.
That depends on personal taste.
I also noticed that it has compression. It doesn't get any louder if you hit the strings harder and sounds quite loud when you hit lightly, those are signs of compression to me. I ended up exchanging it for a Bass Big Muff Nano because I mainly wanted a fuzz pedal to play with an envelope filter and the Mooer's compression was not letting it interact with the filter.
I put mine back on my mini board yesterday as I was fed up carting the Line 6 M5 around for one song (TIRO). I wanted to put it after my zoom ms60b (in the clean loop of my EBS Sheehan drive, but even with all effects bypassed in the zoom it really messes up the Fog - splutters and breaks up as if it's being heavily overloaded. So I've had to put it first in the chain, zoom still in the EBS' clean loop.
Sounds great at bedroom levels, yet to try at band rehearsal.
FWIW, running an octaver after the fog work surprisingly well and can get close to the infamous 'uprising' tone. Good enough for me anyway.

Can some one share their favorite settings for this pedal, what ever would make it most useful for cutting through in the live band situation. I had noticed that if tone set to high, it will disappear in the mix - mixing with guitar's top end too much.
If the tone set too low, it just starts pumping out weird sub frequencies, where it loses its punch completely.
So far, when I turn this pedal on, it sounds like some one added a bottle of water to my tone.

I'm into that Woolly Mammooth/Mastotron kind of fuzz at the moment. Considering the Wolly is highly expensive, do you still think the Mooer would be a fair alternative?
I see its squeeze knob narrows the wave like the Zvex' pinch knob; by watching demos on YouTube, it's not clear if it gates the signal the same way.
Any experience with both pedals is much appreciated, thanks!

I have owned both and like each if them. Different sound from the Moose. Not as flexible either. I kept the Mastotron and sold the FOG
I actually like the sound of both. I was only concerned about the ability to get hard gated synthy sounds from them. I know the Mastotron does that while the FOG sounds like it has less gating capabilities with the squeeze knob cranked up. But that's just from videos.
