I'm thinking about running a Minitaur into a SVT-VR/410HLF rig- is there any chance I'll damage the amp?

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Not bloody likely!I have a feeling the SVT won't really pump out the ultra low end that is the signature of the Moog bass pedal sound.

JimmyM said:The idea that the SVT has no energy in the nether regions of low end is a fallacy based entirely on the 810 having a higher low end rolloff. Yes, it does start rolling off around 40hz with the knobs at noon, but there is plenty, and I mean PLENTY of lows on tap should you need them.

In fact just the opposite. Because there is no hpf the amp is going to waste a ton of energy on frequencies you can't hear, and push your cabinet into early part out. You will be lacking bedroom in terms of the amp and what ever cab you pair with it.

Probably not a huge deal. I think the svt has a -3dB of 40 hz right? The inherent rolloff of the amp (due to the trannies?) prevents so much wasted power on ultra low frequencies. Its a matter of degree really. That rig will work great you just wont find the brown note with it.
Finding ideal amplification for the taurus is a challenge. Even if your amp isnt the bandwidth limiter, the cab probably will be. Then you are getting into diminishing returns. Below 30 hz for electric bass might be mushy but with synths its not. Big cabs and big amps are needed but for the average player, its just too much stuff. For the record i play my taurus through a walkabout and swr 115.![]()
