MF-107 –FreqBox

It’s here--the newest addition to the Moogerfooger line of analog effects. The MF-107 FreqBox will blow you away! it’s unlike anything else out there. The FreqBox does not actually modify the audio input signal. Inside the FreqBox is a Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) which is modulated by the sound source input—an Audio Modulated VCO! The result is an amazing array of effects that were once only possible with a complex modular synth setup—everything from fuzz-like distortion to what product development engineer Steve Dunnington calls “cataclysmic timbral morphing” A true “freak box”!

Here are some specs:

Accepts instrument level and line level inputs
Frequency and waveform controls in the VCO section
VCO can be frequency modulated by the audio signal
Envelope follower and mix controls for even greater sonic enhancement
Housed in the super-durable, classic Moogerfooger enclosure

That thing sounds AMAZING. The MF102 is already on my GAS list, and now they're going to come out with this beast? That's just cruel! Any word on the release date?

And who's going to start work on building the temple for Moog?

Yeah I try not to visit the Moog site very often. Some people may think I'm silly to have purchased a frickin' phaser for $160, well I almost blew $300 on one so yeah.

eh... maybe i'm just drunk or pesimistic, but just buy an analog synth and run your bass through it. Vco's are nothing new. It does sound cool, but its probably gonna cost like 300-400 us dollars. I love Moogs, but the stuff is way overpriced in my opinion. I still want to get a low pass filter though.

double edit. I'm pretty sauced and pissed off for a very good reason. so I shouldn't be diissin'on the moog. But it seems after Bob Moog passed away(RIP), they are just trying to make money. Mind you i am very inebriated and mad, cause some bull**** just went down.

I agree with you completely. There are a lot of synths out there with filter inputs you can run a bass guitar through, some of which can be obtained for pretty cheap. You get more sonic flexibility, plus many of them let you save patches. I'm saving up for one of these babies right now-

I think the new minimoog voyager is a total waste of money. 10 years ago, stores were selling minimoogs for $300 and no one was buying them. All of a sudden, analog synths had a resurgence in popularity. The voyager costs way too much for what it does IMO (almost 3 grand!). Minimoogs only produce a fairly limited range of sounds.

FWIW, the crew at Moog Music were a lot like family with Bob. There is no-one there who is "just trying to make money"... they revere the man and are doing the best they can to carry on his ideas. (Yes I have inside info. :) ) OTOH, if Bob himself was "just trying to make money" by reissuing the Minimoog, that's another story...

Well, doctors are doctors because they get paid to do it. I mean... I'm sure there are a few people that just have this unbridled passion for intibating people, but people have jobs to get paid. That's why nothing is free. Everyone is trying to sustain something.

So while I do think Moog is overpriced, I don't think that they're necessarily sell outs. If they were all about the money, I don't think they'd do so well. Stuff is worth what people are willing to pay for it. So the MiniMoog is a kick in the pants to buy... din't buy it. Get a MicroKorg instead.
