Morningstar ML5X MIDI loop switcher

I wasn’t sure if that was public knowledge yet, hence my not saying. As it happens, I’ve just sent my test unit back today to be upgraded to the 5x stereo version so should have that back in a couple of weeks for the next round of testing.
I think it was mentioned in the Morningstar Facebook group that it is going to be called the M10x now?
 
I believe James said that on the initial release there will be no parallel / summing . I believe he also told someone not to buy with the assumption that it will be added in the future either. Knowing how Morningstar has been I personally feel that it will be added at some point later on. I read this in the Morningstar forum earlier today, please feel free to double check me . I don’t want to spread misinformation.

For me and my board, my initial MorningStar purchase will be the ML10x. I can then get the loops and loop order patching set so that it mimics functions currently provided by my Boss ES-5 matrix loops. This weakens the grasp of my ES-5 over my board. I can then swap it out with a MC-6 at my leisure. Moving to a 2 box solution from a very solid and capable one box solution isn't going to be easy. I have about 40+ patches on my ES-5 that I'm going to want to replicate with the ML10x and MC-6. Just dumping the ES-5 and starting fresh with no patches isn't going to work for me and it's a lot of work re-creating those patches. The ES-5 is such an all encompassing management device.
 
I've been ignoring the ML10x so I didn't get too excited about it, but now I'm letting myself read the forums. This thing is going into my Quad Cortex stereo FX loop and I'll finally have easy access to a bunch of my pedals again.

What happens when you have a mono loop after a stereo effect in your signal chain?
Depends what you do with it. Each channel of your stereo pedal should be given its own loop in the ML10X. You can then preserve the parallel paths further down the chain (maybe by feeding only one channel from the stereo pedal into the mono pedal later in your chain) or you could combine the stereo channels into your mono pedal. The loop order is fully configurable so in most instances it would make sense to put the mono pedals first and then have the stereo effects come later.

I don't think that RT(Friggin)M responses are conducive to good discussion. I wasn't in a place to be able to comb through the manual. But if that's the only way to get an answer I suppose I will do that.

I'm assuming the manual doesn't address the price, though.

No word on price yet, but that will be public at the weekend when it launches. Presumably it won’t be any cheaper than the ML5 though.

My seemingly curt response is partly out of the frustration of someone who has spent thousands of hours writing manuals only to patiently end up answering the same questions over and over again. Today wasn’t one of those times. Was at work and didn’t have the time to type a detailed response. I didn’t mean any insult in my response.

The output blocks have two nodes and sum the two signals being fed to them, so if you split a signal into two paths and send it to the two nodes of an output block, you can double volume of the signal, if that’s what you meant.

I wouldn't imagine it would be cheaper than the ML5. On the flip side, someone on Facebook someone suggested there is no way it would be less than $499 (may not have been in USD, but close enough), that seems to be insane to me. Morningstar did seem to say that was high, but didn't really commit to anything specific. So I am hoping it will be closer to the ML5 than to this random person's speculation.

No worries, I think the heat made me a bit short-tempered.

Yes, you can split the signal at any point and route to the tip and the ring of the stereo output, so what you proposed is possible.
