Well, it's not reached the point yet where the majority look like that thank heavens, we still have heaps of the "Euro" g-string babes but if the trend continues??
Frightening really. A hot topic at the moment here locally is school lunches. Some schools are starting to push for nothing but healthy foods served in the cafeterias, along with a bit of education regarding proper eating habits. Good, bad, or nearly useless? I vote the latter as this sort of thing starts in the home. You can serve a kid celery and carrots in school, but if they go home and mom plops a Bic Mac and a coke in from of 'em, the carrots and celery they had were a waste. Still I guess teaching some of that in school may work for some so it's got my vote.The problems here - many of them start in the home. With mom and dad working, and living a hectic lifestyle, proper parenting has become a lot more difficult.
Quite frankly that was the easiest debate I've had on TB yet!When you do a 300 millions VS 60 millions people debate its obvious the Americans will have a handicap

When I was there I couldn't believe that a few people actually thought that mcdonalds and kfc is in fact ok to eat on a regular basis.
When I told them we don't really have an breakfast cereals that are frosted , they became quite angry like I was trying to fool them????? Still don't understand that.
People here are getting very health consious over the last few years.
We have our fair share of g string that need to be surgicaly removed too.
When I was there I couldn't believe that a few people actually thought that mcdonalds and kfc is in fact ok to eat on a regular basis.

Breakfast cereals are one of my pet peeves really. There are many that are fine. I buy the "boring stuff" - Cheerios, toasted oats, etc etc But if you were to walk down an aisle here in a grocery store, you would be shocked (or maybe not!)by all the garbage that poses as breakfast cereal. Mounds of sugar w/ little nutritional value... and tasty as all hell.
As a once-in-a-while treat it's fine, but I know some parents who let their kids eat that stuff every morning. I don't want to sound snooty but that's just wrong..
There's a lot of publicity here too about our weight problem and health issues. I think, at least I hope, that we're seeing the beginnings of a change. Hopeless optimism maybe??
LOL surgically removing a g-string?? I really hope they pay that Doc really well but some things are just not worth the $!!
Speaking of surgical removals, there was a rather nasty news story here a few years back about an extremely obese woman who essentially lived on a couch for years. It ended very very badly. Here's the article:

You need to understand that, to the Americans, that picture of Jerry Lewis was the equivalent of a Nagasaki bomb -- The debate was over right then. No amount of fat American women in thongs could ever match the embarassment of the French people's love for Jerry Lewis!

Yeh, I know about most of the french jokes but generally they do more smart than dumb things so the balance is in their favor.
Take a look at their automotive engineering and aerospace technology. Concorde, the new airbus etc etc.
There's some really smart dudes there and not wanting to be involved in wars is something to really be proud of I think.
Sure when something is going down like that tool suddam insane but to start wars or invade imo is plain wrong.
Like the old story about nasa spending 2 million on a pen that writes upside down, the russian just used a pencil instead.
Just about anything major or major major evolved from the east.
The greeks have had their fair share of input as have the romans too. Imagine trying to document and layout musical scales 1000 years ago and more. I have countless book, internet and still can't get it right.
The western world has mega dollar computers, the asian people use an abbacus.
Are they backwards? I don't think so. No flat batteries, no polution.

I did laugh but it wasn't at the french! I'm not up with history but from what I see with their attitude towards keeping the peace and not firing up wars I'm thinking they are on the ball.
Keeping the religions out of school was to me a major initiative that took some balls and will pay off over time. I wish our government was the same. They are to an extent but not as strong.

nah, credit where credit's due. being a history nut, I know a lot of French history (as well as it's influence on US history), pretty damn remarkable.
Australian history, now that's where I fall short. In school and college, any Australian history we learned was really it's inception, then it skips to 1914 onwards. Virtually the whole time in between is a blank..
