The Aussies during that period learnt how to be bludgers. I'm not sure if you guys know what that is in case it is slang. It's basically lazy.
I hate to admit it but I'm not so sure Australia has really done that much. I think the rotary engine was design by some guy here before it became someone elses invention and of course there was the winged keel on the boat that won the americas cup after 130+ years of american domination but that's about it.

I think one thing that seems to get a good wrap here is medical. Cancer, AIDS and other reseach seems to be high grade.
