Come on guys, I'm not understanding the bagging of the french but out of France, Australia and USA. The USA is the only one that hasn't grasped "metric" yet.

Hurry up and catch up........

10mm = 1cm, 100cm = 1m, 1000m = 1km

It's easy, you can do it. Ok, maybe not Bush but he's going away anyways.

Metric is like remedial math to us in the US. It's WAY too easy. It's like the math they teach to the kids who ride the short bus to school...

When you outlanders can grasp and remember that there are 8 oz. in a cup, 16 oz. in a pint, 32 oz. in a quart, and 128 oz. in a gallon, not to mention 5,280 feet in a mile, then we'll talk.

Oh, and you Aussies, did you notice the abbreviation for ounce? ;)

An ancient linear unit based on the length of the forearm, from elbow to the tip of the middle finger, usually from 17 to 21 in. (43 to 53 cm).

Kids where? In France or the US? They learn it everywhere, only in the US its much much easier.

In France what matters isnt the solution to the math problem, but how you got to the solution. And no multiple choice, no sir.

Basically, everything I did in 9th grade math in the US I had done previously in 7th grade in France, only harder in France. College is another story though, but as far as public school is concerned, the US level is really low, I was surprised.

That's what it's like here too, you have to show all your workings. Cheating becomes very difficult if you can't explain how you got there.

Mosh Pit, yeh, with the gang that get's on here it seemed only natural. Pushing each other around in fun but never nasty.

We do learn both here, metric as a modern standard, and imperial for legacy application.

Geesh, old school.....

Either way, you guys in the states seem to always get a standard modify it a little and put US in front of it. US english for example.

Our local school district is the same way. Sheeeesh why do you guys always assume that everything in the US is automatically bad or backwards?? Both of my older sons excel in geography and math + can find both France and Australia on the map (being they're both right next to Switzerland....) :p :p :D

You're very funny. The next to France thing is a common one. Austria, yeh, not quite.

It really is very abvious that there are a huge number of talented people in the states, just a lot of silly ones too.

Space exploration, the universitys, the ability to lead the world in software even if it's the worst o/s. M$. And of course the leaders in selling something that resembles a form of food called McYuk.

These are serious feats of grandure. I take my hat off to the yanks for sure.

All in fun.......

Now as for the aussies, well there's lot's we can an do pick on ourselves about. But that's another post, it's 12:16am here and my sheila is getting stroppy.

morf, those come back photos are just killer. The one with the g strings wasn't so funny because it's mostly true. I must say while aussies are health and diet aware, there are some here that fit in both cats.

If I had to debate something I'd be sure to ask you on my side.

Quite frankly that was the easiest debate I've had on TB yet! :D When you do a 300 millions VS 60 millions people debate its obvious the Americans will have a handicap ;)

That G-string pic, good lord I think I've been hit on by her and her sister once! Between them both they had a fine set of "tooth" :eek:
The other one? Well, a lot of my time in Europe was spent on pursuing gals like that, once upon a time I was a baaad bad boy...:bassist: :p
