Most bass heavy post-punk band

Which post-punk band is the most bass heavy, meaning the bassline plays a very prominent role in the compositions and is also up front in the mix?

I'd say, The Cure with the reverent Simon Gallup

Yeah, it's hard to imagine a more bass heavy band than one with two bass players interweaving parts in different registers. Pretty amazing really.

Girls Vs. Boys songs often had two basses. They tended to be casualties in the mix on their official releases though. If you can find some of their live radio performances from the 90s the basses come through pretty hard.

Cop Shoot Cop was two basses, percussion and sampler. More on the industrial side of things so there wasn't really anybody carrying the melody, nevermind the bass.

Hugo Largo's instrumentation was two basses and a violin, pretty spacy if you're thinking post-punk but the interplay between the basses was fantastic.


Japan only had Mick Karn for bass but without him they'd be dry toast.
