I don't expect that you'd tell me, but ever since I saw that video on the mikeyguitar website I've wondered how that system works. I'd love one day to see the details of it.
It's a nice system in theory, but not quite my cup o' tea. As an unlined dude, I'm already out. The price is so high, that you could probably get a nice fretted and fretless bass while still having money left over. Perhaps you could get a double neck for that price.
How will the fingerboard and frets wear over a few years? If something goes wrong, how much to fix it and how long to wait? If the dude goes out of business, who will be able to fix it.
Perhaps the biggest drawback is that the action will be really high on the fretless. A fretless can allow for some ultra low action. My own personal action is set lower (fingerboard to string) than on my fretted basses (frets to string). So I'd need to set it up frets to string and have that much higher action with the frets flipped over flush.
BTW, love those Jerzey Drozds!!!!!! I think the 6er is a little less intimidating for my smaller hands.
