Yup there is an ongoing thread all about that, many excuses in that thread but no real answers that aren't couched in gobbledygook. Oh it's there, 485 watts of Raw Tube Power!! :laugh:

While not the most exspensive, the Demeter HBP1J-800D (J, denoting the Jensen transformer DI output option). is up there in price. I think it's somewhere between $2,000 and $2,200 total cost (with the Jensen option). Although, I'm not quite sure if it's technically a mass-produced head or a boutique as some common retailers do sell them (including B&H Photo of all places....). :-)

the Demeter 1x12 "Neo Fliptop" combo version that includes the VTBP-M-800DJ amplifier section that mates with the 1x12 + 5" mid driver in the classic flip-top design will run you a cool $2,669.
Ampeg Heritage SVT-CL's are listing for $2,399 (as new on Reverb).
I have seen the Heritage B15's listed at $3k (silly) .. even the more mass produced ones, not the original hand built limited run version.

lots of ways to spend tons of money on gear

... but then again, you can find "mint" used versions of the Strategy on Reverb for $1,999. Not bad for a US designed and built 465 watt all tube amp with the features that it offers.

No the lack of concrete power ratings wouldn't stop me but I call them out when I see them as I feel there should be a way we can compare bass amps after all we can compare stereo receivers (or at least used to be able to), I'm just very satisfied with Ampeg's and have been for many years and I have no problem with anyone from Mesa. I did think Raw Tube Power was pretty funny when I saw it though, how many watts is that amp you got there, "Why it's 465 watts TRP!:laugh:

I've never been loyal to brands for most of my life, but for as long as I can remember (started playing bass in the late '70's) of my top 3 favorite amps of any given era, Mesa has always been one of em. Fast forward all these years later I have 3 main amps I gig with and two of em are Mesa's.

I buy from them on occasion and have had nothing but good service, quick shipping and great prices! I've bought lenses from them that are in the same price range as a good bass...

An Alessandro is probably the most expensive bass amp currently on the market (not including vintage collector once-owned-by-Jaco type of stuff). However, a Wizard would probably be one of the most expensive bass amps that at least closely matches the OP's criteria. I remember that the Aguilar DB359 was a fairly pricey amp at the time they were still being manufactured at around $3k street price in 2005.
