But, I'm looking for most iconic basslines of all time, the basslines that start to play and even people who don't listen to music know it and start tapping their foot.
So you're really asking for the most recognizable bass line.
Money? Owner of a Lonely Heart? Another One Bites The Dust?
Sure, very good candidates. But no. The answer is:
Linus and Lucy. Vince Guaraldi Trio - Monty Budwig on double bass. Not just the opening, but the break as well. Sure, people will call it "Peanuts" or "Snoopy" (often with a bunch of !!!!!!! if it's a child), but it's the most recognizable line out there.
If there is a good thread on this, please lead me to it. I have found a bunch of 'best bass line,' threads, but they all seem to include a lot of things that only deep dive music fans or bass players would be super into.
