Too much drinking between sets + me getting two hours sleep the night before = me dozing off for a few microsleeps while playing to a packed bar. I kept playing somehow, or at least I think I did...

Not a bassist, but still lame. The singer for this band we were playing with ended their set by yelling "REMEMBER! DRINK SOME BEER! SMOKE SOME WEED! AND EAT SOME ****ING PUSSY!"
The entire venue went dead silent.
If they speak to me I alway have the same question/responce : do you know any songs?
Not inferior (I play a lot of metal), but I would say there is more stupid genuflucting in metal than almost any other genre. He though he was being cool making faces and pointless noise - I "had" a brother-in-law who would do the same thing on our piano - one day my son shut the lid on his hands, hard.
Most Pitiful Thing?
Load / Unload the trailer while the lead singer does absolutely nothing........
That bass player was me, and I still feel dirty.

I played guitar in a metal band ages ago and we had a bassist who would turn himself down all the time![]()
He would also walk up to us during the gig, fart then walk away:scowl:

First time in a while that I read through an entire thread... in one single day. Also remarkable considering it has 12 pages already.
Kudos to all the hilarious stories here. I wish I could contribute but I don't have any (weirdly enough... maybe it is a good sign that I'm not that out there hearing live music).
Except this one time at my preferred music store where the self-entitled douche of the "technician" took my MIM Jazz in for some adjustments and to file the frets a bit (were a bit sharp). Fast forward a couple weeks, I went to the store again to pick up my bass and he demanded his cash... and it was a job covered by my warranty. Naturally, I said I wouldn't pay a dime, and he just started angrily screaming at the first employee that came across things like "why nobody told me this?" or "I'm really f***ing under-appreciated here!". All this in a packed store. Very, very lame. I felt bad for the employee he screamed at, but I did chuckle a bit after the fact. I hope they fired his a** for giving such a cringe-worthy scene in front of a bunch of customers.
It's bad enough when Michael Anthony would do his amateurish "bass solo" onstage, but OMG, this guy Cronos (from Venom) makes Michael Anthony sound like a virtuoso by comparison:
