Most recorded 5 string?

Whatever bass it is, it will not have the overwhelming dominance that four string Fenders have.

Yeah, that's true. And nailing down the most recorded 5 string is probably an impossibility since there are so many options now and 5 string players seem to be a little more willing to try something different than the old stand-by Fenders.

I was also thinking Soundgear like chicago_mike said. They are good, inexpensive and there are a lot of Soundgear players out there.

Not a country music fan, but I'll bet Laklands have been used on a multitude of tracks over the last 15 years. (I love my Lakland 5 for classic rock & blues! Some of the best tracking I've ever done for folk & modern rock in keys below E has been with said instrument).

I'd say the Stingray 5, just because it's been around a while, is pretty common, and is JUST inexpensive enough to be in enough studios and basements to win the title.

But of course given the number of 5 strings on the market, that might mean that like 10% of 5 strings on tape could be Stingray 5s. That's not nearly as commanding a lead as the Precision and/or Jazz would have on the rest of the pack when it comes to 4s.
