Hello, had the chance to demo the DoubleChorus by Mr. Black out today. Pretty impressive chorus for only having 3 knobs. Can do the subtle shimmer all the way to seasick. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best chorus around but much better than the Bass Chorus Deluxe by MXR that I had.

Cool. Definitely the longest demo of this pedal on the web for sure. I just got rid of my Tech 21 Boost Chorus bass because it was just too tame, and this Doublechorus definitely beats it in that regard. The Double seems to have a really dark, almost evil, inherent tone to it that is apparent at all settings on your demo. It's a nice sound. I wonder what it sounds like in a mix? The only thing about Mr. Black that I don't dig too much is that his modulation pedals are all DSP based, but he doesn't go to too much lengths in advertising that, so I bet a lot of people think this pedal is all analog. I had a Tunnelworm that just sounded bad on bass, but to be fair, I'm not a big fan of flanging on bass. If the price was a little less, say $119, I'd be all over the double chorus, but at $180 I'm on the fence and sitting on it for a long while. Anyhow, thanks for taking the time to do this.

Why do you care if it is digital or not. There are great sounding digital pedals and there are terrible sounding digital pedals. Same for analog. There's no reason to care about what is making the good sound. This kind of attitude towards digital stuff is just as silly as insisting that all the pedals on your board are true bypass or that Japanese Boss pedals sound better than Taiwanese or that you need a blender or you're doomed, or any number of other ridiculous things you can read here.

Definitely wanna try the Tech 21 BCB next. I'm curious as to why everyone raves about it. The Tunnelworm is in my list of pedals I wanna try by Jack, especially for that 46 & 2 type Tool-tone. Also the Supermoon is on my list. Mr.Excane's demo killed it on youtube. Dying to try it out more than any of his other pedals. I feel you on the price though.

Well, we can agree to disagree. I personally think analog modulation pedals are better than digital, but would never chastise you for feeling the opposite.

I have the Supermoon and it's an awesome reverb; I also use the Tech 21 bass boost chorus and I think it's a great chorus pedal made for bass. I don't like the 'warble' in chorus so I take that out and turn the detune and depth up all the way; I feel like it works great in the few songs I use it on in the band. If I was going to get another chorus it would probably be EQD Sea Machine but I'll have to check out this pedal as I have not yet.

Are you 100% Justine is using a flanger? I know he uses chorus most of the time it sounds like. I feel like Adam is the one with the flanger on?

I definitely want to try that Supermoon and compare it to say a Nimbus.

I think he is but then again I just took a listen to the song again and it sounds like a combination of modulation effects. That guy is such a pedal junkie drool

I had the DoubleChorus on my board for a little while but had to sell it cos it wasn't working well with my rig. I wanted to like it, with its cool graphics and all, but couldn't hear it cut in a band setting. It doesn't do well with a hot signal either. When I had it in a chain with drive pedals or compression it would fart out. I wouldn't recommend Mr Black pedals on bass, they are really only designed with guitarists in mind

Not the first time I've heard this, particluarly with the double chorus. I know my thunderclaw came and went extremely fast. At first I was really enamored with it as an always on slight booster, but then realized that a lot of pedals do that much better and also asked myself why I was using a "high gain distortion machine" as a clean boost? I also had a Tunnelworm I wanted to love and convinced myself for a minute that I did, but it too went pretty quickly, mainly because it could not be heard in a band mix. I think your assessment is correct. I mean, if Mr. Black was killing it for bass, a lot of people here would be raving about them. But alas, there's hardly anything to be found on TB about Mr. Black except a few threads asking if they're good for bass.
