MTD 535 vs. Sadowsky Modern-5

I have both:
Sadowsky 5-24 - ash body, maple top, ebony fretboard
MTD 535- Avodire body, flamed maple top, wenge/wenge neck.

My Sadowsky is my #2 bass - after my Ken Lawrence Brase 5 because of the sound in a band situation. It just cuts through and fills up the bottom so well. My MTD is a close #3 and is much more aggressive/punchy than the Sadowsky. REALLY articulate sound but doesn' "bloom" as much when you play longer notes.

If you are sticking to funk, I would recommend the MTD. If you play a bit of everything I would recommend the Sadowsky.

Either way, you will have a fantastic instrument.

MTD basses are definitely voiced to do hte funk. Sadowski is no slouch but I have played atleast a dozen different MTD 4-5 and 6 strings and no matter which neck or body woods they have, Mike always consistently gets these basses to sound really tight and always have a dead nuts slap tone. He voiced those things with a definite EQ curve in mind

If you didn't need the super slap tone, the Sadowski would be a pretty even contender. And as mentioned, MTD and Sadowski do feel alot different so try both.
