MTD Kingston CRB 5

Well you and I have already discussed this subject before.

I own 2 of these bad boys. Both 5 strings.
1 with rosewood board/ sunburst/ TI flats.
1 with maple board/ black/rounds.
I have no gas for another bass. I'm 100% satisfied .

I sold off my more expensive basses.
For my needs, they are that good.
Excellent build quality.
Pickup is great.
Asymmetric neck profile is awesome.
Intonation is perfect with the zero fret and buzz feiten tuning system.
B string is strong and clear.
34 scale.
Thumps like thunder .
Winner!

A lot more bass than the price suggest.

Just buy one and see for yourself .

So what's holding you back?
Are you still trying I decide on the color & fingerboard option?
They do seem to be hard to come by.
Back ordered and slim pickings on the used market.
There is a used one currently listed here but the bridge and knobs have been changed. Seller isn't sure if pickup is stock.

Both of mine are slightly less than 9lbs.
Body isn't thick and big. About same as a standard Pbass just isn't as rounded off. More squared off body edges but has a great cutaway on the back of the body and contoured where the forearm rest.

I live 5 miles from Bass Central. I bought my black / maple from them. I'm pretty sure they only have the 1 sunburst maple 5 in stock currently . Unless the website hasn't been updated . Great guys to do business with btw.

If you are particular , Dana B goods would probably be your best bet. That way you can get the board/ color option of choice.

Yep, GC/ MF still showing back ordered.

Hello,

I am interested in this bass. Has anyone used or played one? Any thoughts? I have looked through past threads but most are years old.

Thanks for any insight.

Shaun
I bought one for a backup. It's an amazing bass for the price. The MTD neck is fast and easy to get around on. The pickups are quite and have an great P bass tone with lots of punch. I got mine used at $400. I was expecting to have to replace the pickups and bridge. After 4 gigs where I used it as my primary axe I have not found any reason to change anything. Mine has a maple neck. I had a set up done on it and it has stayed very stable. The fit and finish is great especially for this price range. I have some high end basses but this one is perfect for the gig where a P bass is needed. This bass is a lot of band for the buck.
