"Muddy" tone, with no definition - help needed (TC amp content)

I have a spectrum analyzer. If nobody responds before then I'll try to remember to report back on what's flat after our next practice. Good idea. I never thought to do this.

Actually. Since different cabs/speakers will have different responses, will I need to go DI post EQ into my interface and then run the spectrum analyzer in my DAW to be able to tell what is actually flat for the amp?

Either you have a faulty amp or maybe not:)
I have BH250 and indeed is wooly and low but no mud there. I find that it does not cooperate with all cabs well. It has more vintage warm sound and it is voiced more for old school things. If you want more treble you should go either markbass or gk.
Try it with another bass and another cab if possible just to verify if the amp is to blame.

I own the BH250 (W/ RS410 cab) and I don't really have any of the issues illustrated, I actually find this to be a very clean amp and the bass/pups is where all the color comes from.
The EQ knobs are different than most but I would assume that would be the first thing you tried.

I am not surprised with all the "BUY THIS" responses, this is pretty typical response to anything here. Take it with a grain of salt.

I'd say that the TC Head can get the sound you want or there is something actually wrong with it. (Or the cabs are garbage)

I think the head might pair well with tc cabs - which makes alot of sense. I've only tried it with Bergantino, markbass, EA, F Bass, tecamp & peavey cabs. I got the most clarity & definition with the berg & the wooliest sound from the markbass - but most every amp I've run through the berg was better with that cab :)

I have the tc currently hooked up to an F bass 2x10 - they're both black n red - haha. Its an OK combo, but sounds best with basses that have alot of top end sparkle and clarity - it growls with my Fbasses & active jazz's. It's a bit of a battle to get some basses to shine with the tc head vs all my other heads. I might do the preamp onto aux in for fun - i have a few to choose from, but need a good quality 1/4" to 1/8" adapter or cable.

Also note that I think my markbass head sounds too wooly with my markbass cab vs other combinations of heads & speakers.

I have the BG250-115 and a Genz rig (Streamliner and 410). My three main guitars are G&L JB-2, a SB-1, and a Godin BG5. The G&L's are clean a clear almost always through both amps. But the Godin with Seymour Duncan pickups takes a lot of tweaking to get a good sound outta both amps. I'd try another bass through that amp if you haven't already. I almost started a thread myself on the Godin being so "muddy" sounding...
