Multi- power supply question...

Hey fine folks of the effects forum....

I'm just going to start messing around with some effects in the near future. (I have a few of my first pedals on the way)

I'm wondering about power supplies. What's the differances between some of the boxes I've seen for $200, and $50? Besides number of outputs and such.....If it says it will put out enough juice, are they pretty much the same? (not including ones that have special power outs for like line6 ect)

Can you recommend a good power supply box for maybe up to 4-6 pedals?

Id get the Voodoo Pedal Power 2 + if I were you.. one of the best ones out there..
Someone wrote they now support 24v pedals with one of their cables.. man Im all over the pp2 if thats true.. Only reason I whent with regular power adapter in the first place..

I believe Bongo wrote that, but yes, it's true. I've already seen one person do it on TB with their own homemade cable to power an EHX Q-Tron.

Have a look for a godlyke powerall or a one spot they do cables for ehx pedals and also check out www.diago.co.uk if you want a brick, they are excellent units.

Thats what I use. Plenty of connection options, it's compact and doesn't require any board space.

Only problem I have had is with one of the extensions; the tip broke off inside my compulator. Unsure whether that is the extensions fault or the retaining bracket inside the demeter exerting too much pressure.

I've got it running 6 pedals and it takes it in its stride - no noise or hum or heat! Great value and does exactly what it says on the tin. IMHO, no need to spend huge amounts on something like the Voodoo Labs which, IMHO again, is over-priced! Then again, horses for course and all that...

another vote for the godlyke power-all, mine has been very sturdy, small and lightweight. comes with all the connectors you need as well.

I've been using a Visual Sound One Spot, for several years now.... powers several pedals with just one lil plug-in. Visual Sound is a great company to work with as well, customer service there is top-notch!!

+1. It also has a courtesy outlet on the back that you can plug pedals that need more then 100mA. I have to do that with my AX3000B since it requires 600mA and one of my Line6 pedals since the PP2 doesn't have enough plugs.

The great thing about the Voodoo labs PP2 plus is that all the power outs are isolated...It costs more that most others...but it's worth it IMO.

I think the BBE one hasn't actually hit the streets yet, but I am keenly interested because it looks "on paper" like it might provide most of the good qualities of the PPII with (probably) a lower price.

As it is now, I'm using a One-Spot and an EHX power supply plugged into the duplex outlet built into my board.

It's coming the mid to end of June with a 149.99 price tag at MF.

you can plug the 9's in the PP2 and the 12V in the PP2 as well (there's an outlet on the back you can plug that supply into)

It's only $10-20 less than the PPII. So some people may want to pay $20 for the power outlet, sag features, and Line 6 plugs. It just depends on what you need.
