Multiple Bass Owners....Do you...........

I would think that the gig enviornment is going to be a lot harder on my basses than airborn particals. ;) (you guys kill me sometimes. :D)

I keep mine out in a 5 space custom built oak/felt rack (2 basses, two elctric and one acoustic guitar) and my other 3 working basses are on regular stands (the kind that rest against the body not the neck) in close proximity.


I like to have them out and handy, so I can just grab two, toss them in a gig bag, and go. Nice to have them out should I decide I feel like playing around the house too.

Do you suppose it's OK to just keep basses in there all the time instead of in their original cases? Ya think nice basses (Ric 4003) would be OK being stored in there?

I could stick that sucker in the closet and free up all kind of room...

well, the only bass that I own that has it's (original case) is my Ibanez acoustic. That's sort of a moot point because it's an acoustic and really needs it's own hardshell for protection.

As for my electrics, the only one that came with anything was my tiny washburn with paltry gig-bag. It was my own personal decision to have my coffin caddy where I could save a ton of room, having them all in one enclosure/stand. The only time I ever have a bass in it's case is when I'm heading out to practice.

the case I use is a Coffin Body Bag. For a gig bag, it's tough as nails.

but for your original question, if the Rick came with it's own hard case, then maybe you should just use it for sake of keeping everything coordinated (because I'm O.C.D. like that).

I have a lot of basses. Some I keep in cases, but the 6 I use most often are kept in a stand. It probably isn't the best for them, especially here in Hawaii where we keep our windows open all the time, but it hasn't seemed to hurt them any. I've been doing this for years.

I used these instructions, multiplied the dimensions and built my own stand. I looked at the Warwick ones, but I would have had to buy two.

This way all my instruments are available. I found it awkward to keep them all in their cases and the get them out when I wanted to practice or record.

I might be overly-cautious but I don't like those wall-hanger things !!

+1 to that. Having cases laying around was taking up a lot of space. And I was just wondering if I was being weird wanting to see them on display rather than just the cases.
