Multiple Bass Owners....Do you...........

I have all of mine (plus my guitars) hanging on hangers on the wall of my studio. I like being able to grab them at will and it's certainly a nice way to break up the monotony of the room a bit.

They're above some amps and a long table with recording gear on it so there isn't much of a chance that they'll get dinged or damaged. And they don't spend enough time unplayed to gather any dust. ;)

My two basses, an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar, a 15w bass combo, and a 15w guitar combo are always in easy reach and part of the living room decor.

My main rig (svt-6 pro and 6x10) are kept in a pantry type closet just off of this room.

They are always stored in their cases. When I take them out, they are on their own Hercules stand, but when I am done playing, they go back in the case.

It is dry here, especially in the winter, so I keep humidifiers in each case too. I also have a humidifier built into our HVAC system and have an additional unit in the "cave", where I spend most of my time.

That curved stand and the coffin case are cool. I keep all (4) of mine stored in their cases. I have always thought about the wall hangers. I think those would be nice for displaying.

My Rics so far have not seemed to mind changes in temp/humidty whether it's outside or inside. But my Sterling last spring became unplayable as the temperature and humidty went up.

If you'll think about it, the indoor temperature and humidity of the typical residence really doesn't vary more than perhaps 5 degrees/10 percent tops.

I have beaucoup acoustic guitars, which are far more sensitive to temperature and humidity, and I leave them out (on stands or wall-hangers) all the time.

No problems for the last 20 years.

I have not the room nor the stands to display them all at once and even if I did, I wouldn't want my instruments getting all dusty. My place gets dusty fast, especially if windows are open or cracked.

The instruments that are not often played are kept in a closet. Everything else (my main basses/guitars/mandolin) are all kept in my room inside their bags/cases and everything is tucked away until I play. I play my 6-string classical the most so it sometimes spends its day out on a stand. Otherwise, things live in their cases/bags.

Humidity and temperature changes will affect a bass in its case also, unless you have it hermetically sealed. I just keep mine out, on a stand, and within easy reach.

There is something to be said for keeping them away from airborne particles however....
