Folks...our plan is to offer the same courses in both two and four week format. Same materials, just making sure the two week courses have a legitimate stopping point. Same instructors, too. Some of the courses are going to be mini courses, which are only two weeks (ie the Funk and R&B course). The only difference will be the course number format. It's likely, for example, we'll use something like BT101A and BT101B to denote each two week portion of the BT101 four week class, but BT101 will still be offered in four week format.

Hope that makes sense!

perfect sense/ and perfect for someone lin my situation. i could take the first half of a course...and then stop. others in the class could go on if they had the time. then when i had time at a later date, i could cycle into the second half of a class... thats exactly how i was hoping it would be done. (and the 2 week mini courses sound cool, too.)

I'm starting off with Reading Music for Bassists, Level 1. Should be a great refresher I havn't done anyting theory wise since highschool band, hopefulley it comes back easy, You guys should really throw talk bassa bone, you are getting some sweet advertising here

I'm glad you're taking the course. I hope you like it!

As far as throwing TB a bone...we're starting on working on some things together. We really appreciate TB and the community they've built, and it's definitely been a boon for us.

For the free course, there are no set office hours, but I often set up a time during the week just so the students can get used to the chat. Just so you all know, we're undergoing some site maintenance today in prep for some new features we're rolling out over the next couple weeks. So, the site may be down on and off today. Sorry about that!

I'm beginning the free course today, so I was wondering what the instructor's office hours are? They're not listed on the site (yet?). Anybody else on this list starting this week?

you dont need that rubbish, just go out and buy the New Real Book and the Jazz theory book, both by Sher Muisic, if you ve got half a brain cell you'll work it out from there.
oh yea, and listen to jaco a lot, especially the tuitional video he did.

Originally I had stated that the courses weren't for absolute beginners, although we now have created a course called "Bass First Steps" this is geared for those just picking up the bass. Even players who've been playing for a few months to a year, or those who never were really grounded with any skills get a lot out of it.

Really, as far as level, if you generally know the notes on the neck, and can play a bit, you can start taking the courses. Most level 1 courses are totally accessible to someone with some experience, and again, if you don't have it, Bass First Steps is a good starting point. From there, you'd be good to go.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Lenmonster,

I'm new to the bass. You mentioned that your site Musicdojo.com is not set up for a beginner. How much experiance should someone have before they can use what is
offered at your site. By the way this is a great idea.

Len,

I'm thinking of signing up to a 4 week course and was just wondering how long after you complete a course does the lessons/assignments etc stay online for you to access/go over? I'm also having a bit of grief signing up, keeps coming up with an error page when I submit my details?

Cheers mate! :)

Andy...

Let me test out the problems signing up for you. Please email me at [email protected] to give me details of where you are getting the error, and we'll try to straighten it out.

As far as the materials...they are available indefinitely after the course is over, so you can always go back and access them.

Hope this helps!

I just wanted to let everyone know that our first pilot series of two week class sessions are starting Monday! We decided to start with Adam Nitti's Jazz Improvisation courses, since often students really get a bit overwhelmed with the sheer amount of material in these particular classes.

The way we set it up, is that each course can still be taken as a four week course. However, instead, you can separately sign up for "A" and "B" sessions. The "A" session is the first half of the course, and the "B" session is the second half. For example, Jazz Improvisation 1 (course code BI105) is the four week course. But alternately, you can take Jazz Improvsation 1-A (BI105-A), and at any point in the future, Jazz Improvsation 1-B (BI105-B).

We will be generally running the two week sessions concurrent with the four week classes. Jazz Improv 1 and 2 both start this Monday, January 3rd. The "A" sessions of these classes also start on that date, and the "B" sessions start two weeks later, on the 17th.

If people seem to like the 2 week sessions, we're going to definitely expand our four week offerings so that they are also offered in two two-week sessions.

By the way, the cost of a two week session is $24.95 (the four week sessions are $49.95), so you actually save a nickle by signing up for th two week sessions! ;-)

Please let me know if you have any questions.
