Aside from pickguards and straplocks, a drop tuner may be nice.

The sound of my 'Ray seals the deal for me, I ain't changing it.

I put a nordy pickup in my sr4 when the factory one died. I can't say i noticed any difference. They both sound awesome.

A curious question. So I am pretty happy with the overall sound of the stock pickup(s) and preamp, which is unusual for me. It's almost always a foregone conclusion that shortly after I get a new bass the search is on for an 'upgrade' to the internals. I guess the main reason from my experience is that unless you're buying pretty high end or custom grade basses you get adequate components at best, entry level junk at worst. But the SR bits seem very very good.

So if you replaced anything what was it, what was your reasoning and what gains did you realize?

I put a Hipshot D-Tuner on mine, and I plan on swapping the pickguard eventually. That's it. Stock pup and electronics sound awesome as-is, so they're staying!

Yeah. Even OEM EB strings sound great.

I did decide to spring for chrome knobs and gonna try a couple lighter pickguards but that's just goofy personal aesthetic stuff for me. Rarely money well spent but it makes me happy.

So, you got probably each Bodywood they offer at this time.
White - Ash
Red - Alder
Black - Poplar

Superb collection!

yes according to Musicman the red is alder, the black is poplar and the white is Ash or poplar
In terms of sound, the red is the most powerfull and "aggressive", maybe too much.
My favorite is the blak poplar/2eq/rosewood neck

I once owned also an '92 transred with maple, but 3EQ - Killer-Machine with 3Band even more aggressive.

Sweet! I always wonder about the semi flat black finish on those. How are they for getting all finger printed and smudged up?

I've got the same one (stealth 5)... Can't seem to get any fingerprints on it... CSI agents would have a hard time finding out who played it last

I will admit that I'm kinda picky about Stingrays newer than 96... but the Stealths are exempt from that. I really dig those beautiful, scary beasts!
Someone had all the black stealth stuff on a white body once... I liked that a lot, too.

For the SR5 folks with compensated nuts do you have any issues with the thin piece exposed on the G string side? I am finding that fairly often my hand is running into this very sharp edge. First couple times it surprised me but now I am aware of it and intend to fix it. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this and what was your method to fix, how much material was removed etc.?

Wow! Didn't see this coming. Picked up these two beauties in the past two days. Can't wait to have them in hand..

SR5H Dargie Delight 1st Edition, one of fifteen made in this configuration and even fewer with a non matching headstock..

Then this one. SR5Hp fretless with the piezo bridge.
