And there it is. My unicorn bass.
One of the tutors at our music college had one of these. I was 16, and loved it. Nothing sounded as good or looked as cool as his old silver StingRay!

As far as I know, the SR4 always had Alnico pickups until the Stingray Special of this year which has Neodymium.
SR5 was originally Alnico. In 1991 they changed to Ceramic until May of 2008 when they went back to Alnico.
The SR5 special from this year has the Neodymium pickups.
The 30th Anniversary SR5 available in 2017 had ceramic pickups.
You can contact Music Man [email protected] with your serial number and ask them about your bass and get date it was made and type of pickups.

Thanks - my SR5 HH is from circa 2012 so it has Alnico. I was looking at another SR5 that was available locally, it was an older model and probably had ceramic pups assuming it was original.
I passed on it so its a moot point for now but this is good information nonetheless.
Of all my basses I suppose my StingRay is my #1 eventually
I'm wanting a basic single pickup SR to compliment it.
Now I'm not sure if I should target something with Ceramic pickups for contrast. The MFD pup on my G&L is ceramic core and it sound great - once you get used to the G&L controls.
I fail to see how a second kid would help your situation.

Wow!! That is a bluetiful bass. Sparkle finishes are my favorite.
Actually, this glacier blue reminds me a lot of the HH in your sig. maybe a little greener.
Does anyone know if a MM Sterling (US) fill well in a Stingray case? Someone selling a MM case on CL but he doesn't know what model it's for. I know the Sterling is a bit smaller.
Since the Sterling has a smaller body than the StingRay, my guess is that it would fit quite loosely in a StingRay case.
That is correct. I bought a sterling from GC used site that said it came with a case. It did, but it was a stingray case. It is GC.. who knows what happened there. Bass fit but body was very loose inside

Let's play this game to really see the size and scope of our addictions. Here's a list of all the EBMM basses I've owned over the last several years. All bought and sold here on TB. The only ones I currently have are the Blue Dawn, Autumn Burst and 30th Anniversary SR5's. The one I most regret letting go of was the 90 Stingray in natural with a birds eye neck. Dang that thing was a beauty. And the Lucky Gold SR5. It was a true one off custom shop EBMM. Anybody else want to play along?
