Musicman Bass - Need opinions

hi guys,

I have an opportunity to purchase a 2008 Musicman Stingray in a metal-flake grey finish.

Its beautiful but I've never seen that finish before.

The price is incredible at $750 which makes me wonder - is it really a US made Stingray?

Anyone out there seen this finish or know anything about this model. I don't want to pass up a great deal.
Im normally a fan of passive electronics and am a Fender man, but if i were to own an active bass, I think the Musicman would be it, Ive always like the build of their basses.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I just bought an SR5--my first MM bass. It just arrived so I'll be trying it out tonight but I agree they are very well built instruments.

I'm a Fender man too but I bought a 2013 Stingray Classic just because I loved the way it looked. Bought it online before playing it. When I got it I didn't like the sound at all. It seemed too hot for lack of better word. It had rounds on it when I got it. I was going to sell it but I decided to try some flats on it before I sold it. I put a set of TI's on it and I love it now. Still a Fender P guy though.

you might just need to lower the pickup. I had to lower mine significantly when I got my MM.

To the OP, what does it say on the front and back of the headstock?

The 2008 Musicman Stingray came in several colors that might fit your description - Egyptian Smoke, Graphite Pearl, or Sapphire Black. I think the third one is the most common.

Email via their website. Unlike some other major manufacturers, EBMM is pretty darn responsive to customer emails.
