Musicman Big Al Club

Once my bongo sells, this will be my last Ball. I don't think it will be lonely though, because its such a versatile bass, I will always want one in the rotation.

Gots meself one last year, funny story about it too. There's a brown SSS at GC in Concord, California that's been there for what seems like decades, and they wouldn't give me a discount that made it worth buying (it had problems). So I moped over to GC El Cerrito and found this one, with a pretty serious discount tag on it that according to the salesdude shouldn't have been there. But I got the sale, and thus was one of the luckiest days of my life.

Hi all. Just picked up a Big Al 5 and strung it up E to C with flats. Diggin it.

Two strange things. I get noise (clicks and pops) when switching the pickup an active/passive switches. Also, if you tap on the pickups it comes thru the amp quite loudly, but only the pickup that's 'on'.

This can't be normal, can it?

The switch clicks and pops are normal, the important thing is that they shouldn't be very loud. As for the pickups, think of them like microphone. If you tap them you will hear sound. They are also fairly strong as the magnets for the pickup poles are neodymium.

You can rest easy knowing that nothing is wrong with your bass. Enjoy!
