My band finished setting up the recording equipment in our practice space. Below are the results.

Here is my band covering a couple of songs with me playing my Big Al 5 SSS through my Kustom KBX500 direct to the board. I used an Draggoon 210 which can be heard through the room mics.

So......what do you think?

Wow. I never took the pickguard off, and I don't have a clue. My Stingray has a hidden dummy pickup under the pg that freaked me out first time I took it off (was when the dual pickup Stingrays were still relatively new).

There is no hum w any of the Big Al SSS pickups, but I always assumed it was because they were noiseless pickups. Would be interesting if there were pickups under the hood that I never knew about - but I don't think so. I think that's what you meant by dummy coils... ?

Anyhow...

Now I'll let someone else answer .

They are stacked single coils, so each pickup has two coils.

And I bought my Big Al with rosewood neck from projectapollo. The circle of TB life continues...

I liked the Big Al H quite a bit. Then I started working on some recordings with it. Now I love it. This might be one of the best basses that I have ever recorded with.

I figured I would offer it here to the club before posting a fs ad in the classifieds. I have a Big Al sss in Olympic white with a Rosewood fingerboard. I bought this off of Caca a while back. Its still in great condition and sounds and plays great !

Yup. Once I saw that color I did a hard target search to find one. Mission accomplished.

This time last year, I had only heard of the Big Al series. Just prior to the discontinuation date, I snagged my 5 SSS. I was so impressed, I bought 2 more...I'm so glad that I did. The 4SSS fretless has been a real surprise: It's become my all time favorite bass. My grandkids will be happy that I bought these...and they better not even think of EVER selling them
