Musicman Bongo 6 HH or HS?

After watching that video, it seems that the Single Coil near the neck had more bass. Maybe because it was near the neck. So if that single coil was replaced with a Humbucker, does that mean the output will be higher in terms of the bass, mid, treble? I have read some threads telling me that Humbuckers have hum canceling pickups with them. The single coil pickups come out with phantom coils too right?

So is it safe to assume that having a single coil as the neck pickup gives you that natural bass growl whenever using it alone or with the humbucker?

Having a single coil in the neck position means you will be able to have more "single coil like" tones available in the neck position. With the Bongos terrific EQ, you may be able to pull P Bass or J Bass tones. Of course it won't be perfect, but many people, especially on the EBMM forums, claim they can get something close. Regardless of your choice, you will be getting a great bass. I suggest you check out the EBMM forums for more information about the Bongo 6. They are highly informed over there.

The neck-pickup adds some extra warmth to the tone, due the position. A neck-humbucker will provide more a more powerful tone, and the singel coil softens it up a bit.
I suggest you try em both if possible, but you can't go wrong with either of them, Bongo's are awesome instruments.

Regarding the Hum-cancelling: The Bongo has a specific build-in device that takes care of that :)

The only complaint I've heard to the double HH config is, that big humbucker can get in the way a bit if your a slaphappy type of player. The single coil will provide a bit more room for those finger pops. Personally , on my HH Bongo, it wasn't that big of a deal, a little adjustment of hand position and no worrys. Either ones a good choice, they're both tone monsters.

I would prefer the HH model more because of its increased output level, but the HS model would give more tonal variation in my opinion. It's been too long since I've played either model, but that's what I think of it.
