I don't know if this applies to all Sabre's but mine (1979) is not nearly as growly and punchy as the EBMM Stingray I used to have.

Yeah completely different. The pickups are in different locations, and typically 2 band vs 3 band.
My Sabre is deeper than the HH's I had.

They are both alnico.

The StingRay and Sabre were always alnico...and the Sabre was discontinued before EBMM used ceramic in anything (later on the Sterling and SR5).
