Try GHS Sunbeams, Ive got them on my Classic Sabre and they are nice. I'm going to put some SIT Foundations on my 79.

Nice! I run SIT Power Steel and Power Flats on a couple basses and really like em. How would you describe the Foundations?

Never even considered tapes on that bass! I'm too heavy handed to use tapes live, but it might be cool to put a set on a bass for recording. Used to have tapes on an Epi JC bass and can't believe I sold it...can't remember why. Did this session with tapes and was pleased with the sound.

I use them on my fretless ebony neck, they sound good whether live or studio work, I will use flatwound on my maple neck for that brighter sound for jazz sessions...

SIT sent me a set of Foundations over three and a half years ago to beta test when they were getting ready to release them. I put them on my '78 StingRay, and they're still bright and zingy and still on there!

But DR is who makes Sunbeams, not GHS.

I've recently changed the EB pink pack Slinkies on my mahogany body Sabre Classic for Elixir stainless steel 105-45. Sounds great (but have yet to gig it) - may use it for rehearsal tomorrow

I keep returning to the EB pink pack Slinkys, but considering Cobalt flats for my next set.

I tried Chromes on my classic for awhile (nice but missed the round wound zing) but went back to D'Addario EXL170s. Thinking I'm putting EB Pink Slinkys back on - I like them best on my SR5. Tension on the EXLs is too high in my opinion for the Sabre.

Did a fun session recently with my Sabre. Got to play with some heavy hitters...Kenny Greenberg, Chad Cromwell, Mike Rojas, among others. David Leonard engineered. That crew normally uses Michael Rhodes for bass, so I'm assuming either he was busy that day, or they were going over budget and didn't want to pay triple scale for Michael

Finally got a Classic Sabre. When the opportunity presented itself, I had to sell my Cutlass P bass to get it. However did manage to kind of replace that a short while later with a CLF Research L-1000 in Pharaoh gold so all good for now.
