79 Sabres are great. They are rare and have gained popularity over the years. What kind of trade has been offered for it? and what are the specs?
I am thinking of offering my Veillette 5 string for it! Don't know a lot of the specs just that it has 2 MM pickups, ash body, and maple fretboard. He's asking $3,500 for it!
looks pretty great! If you get like a maple and nitro that bad boy it might look pretty crazy, stil don't know what to put on the sunburst I got
That's average price! They're not the same pickup as the stingray is! They have a slightly smaller winding and they sound I think significantly darker than a stingray, even on the bridge! They won't put out the 79 Sabre pickup configuration ever again and there's really only 6,000 of them in the world with that neck radius and those pickups!
79 is a beautiful thing.
Slim necks and slimmer body than the Stingray.
Sound is a pretty good Ray sound with some variations.
Pickups have exposed magnets.
Bullet truss rod.
If all is good and works as it should.

Sabre for sale. Looked just like the one I had back in that time frame. Decided to go ahead and get it,should be here sometime later this week,if seller gets it going. Lot bad weather between here in Ohio and Texas!
Have a question about the 87 Sabre I recently posted here. Noticed the logo on back of head stock in not on there? Any idea why,that particular year?

87 is when the logo on the back of headstock started appearing. So some of the early necks its no surprise its not there.
Pretty sure it was '88 when the SLO decal was added.
It was during '88 the the headstock logo transitioned from the classic style big M as the trousers for the two guys, to the modern logo, where the guys have no legs.

My 88 has the backside logo. I believe this is correct.
Turns out it was late 1987 that both the rear SLO decal began appearing, and the headstock front logo change began.
Best I could figure out, based on what I'd seen in the wild, was that those revisions were launched for Winter NAMM 1988, but it seems they were dripping into the market in late '87.

Funny, I'd never really noticed that between pre-EB, and EB there'd been a fashion update ; one of the guys ditched his polo-neck, and they both seemed to have their hair trimmed a little.
Have any of you played a Veillette bass? I am really having a hard time deciding whether to trade mine for a '79 Sabre. I know the Veillettes have a dismal resale value and it seems the value of the Sabres will peobably keep going up.
87 Sabre scheduled for delivery tomorrow 15January24,here in Ohio with temps at 0 to 15 degrees. Getting concerned about it being exposed to freezing temps. Never had any problems when temps were in thirties to forties. I plan on letting it acclimate for at least 24 hours to be on safe side.
