Musicman Stingray lowdowns

I've been playing for 4 years. The fretts were a little messed up, you could see they were a bit "Chewed" on two or three frets.

Yeah, that was the Second bass, And I said they pulled it out of the back, untouched, with new strings... I already said all that...
"What led you to believe the stingray needed a fret job? You seem a bit confused about setup issues later in the post."
How do I seem confused???

A bit of fret wear isn't going to cause a big problem... when there are high frets, this can cause a problem... i find it hard to believe that the necks were lose!!! atleast the store tech would tighten them up if they were lose!.. some buzzing is to be expected on all basses in my opinion... they get sent to the store from the factory thus they are in a new climate and need adjustment.. they get abused by several people in the store.. if they change strings (after receiving the bass from the factory) they may have put on a different set on which was a different gauge or even different brand thus causing the bass to need adjustment.
to each his or her own, but in my experience, music man basses have been the cream of the crop, especially in comparisson to other basses in the stores.

On the set up thing. In most cases, a bass will leave a factory perfectly set up and will need setting up when it reaches the shop. Conditions in the shop (humidity and temperature) will not be the same as it was in the factory. Things will shift during transit and in storage.
It sounds like the shop you were trying the basses out in had a few issues. I wouldn't buy from there.

Maybe I had played two bad basses, I dont know. But from MY experiance with TWO different ones, they had many problems.
And yes the Necks were actually LOSE. I have had and used some good basses and Never had any problem with them. The only other bass I ever had a problem with was a Lakland 55-94, The setup wasnt "Perfect" as I know they are supposed to be.
Maybe I have bad bass luck?

I am not a big fan of the tone of musicman basses (except the Bongo) but you cannot fault the construction: These things are top notch and built to last. My sterling went 7 years without even one truss rod adjustment. The quality and build are actually what made me buy in the first place (and the awesome slap tone). When you hold one, you can feel how solid and substantial they really are. The body was all one piece, and that's not common on many basses these days!
