Musicman Sub and Ibanez BTB 400 some info please?

Hey I've been playing bass properly since January of this year and am loving it to bits, probably played over an hour a day every day, and for a 14/15 year old I'm pretty pleased with that : ). As, I'm guessing like a lot of people, I've started with a Fender Squire.. which is a truly awful bass, but it does its job, and I'm looking to move up a class.

Soo... I tried out a musicman sub in my local shop, I preferably wanted a stingray or sterling but their waay out of my price range even on eBay standards, and really liked it.. and ended up coincidentally winning this on eBay an hour later.

Just wondering what you guys think of the MM Sub for an 10 month old bassist, and also if anyone knows the Ibanez BTB 400, one I've been borrowing from a friend, and how you think the two compare I'd be very grateful!

for an active SUB that's a steal !! well done!!

The other bassist in my church has a BTB 5 string active
and the low B sounds great but I think its a little thin sounding for the treble side
it reminds me of the Spector I used to own . Great subsonic lows but thin at top..

I think the SUB is a great start for you
You have a nice quality US built bass that will grow with you

I've been gassing for a SUB5 for a while now and may sell my '81 Precision Special to fund the purchase. I think they're great basses and likely to go up in value before too long. I do have one concern tho; isn't a 10 month old a little young to start learning the bass?

Hah, just picturing a tiny asian baby with a massive bass guitar, I knew someone would quote that.. I meant having been playing 10 months old bassist. Ok :smug:

I bagged a new SUB at Guitar Center a few years back on some sale for $329.99 (as did a few others here). It's a great, indestructible, ugly bass and better than anything Ibanez has built or ever will.

The SUB is heavy, though.
