What's your main/side project now?

I'll start.

I'm bandless. My last band was like a job. I'm now musically free. Learning/analysing scale, trying new style, digging slap. Looking around... It's good to have open possibility! I read talkbass for new ideas! :bassist:

I've been with my current band, a classic country and rockabilly thing, for about three years; first as a regular sub, and for the past year as a full member. We're giggin' four to eight times a month. Pays OK, no rehearsal, no drama, no hassles. I've also held down the rhythm guitar spot on occasion. I maintain a solo acoustic act, mostly Americana ... blues, folk, early country, and such. I play bass for two different singer/songwriters, doing live shows (no bars) and recording. Finally, I'm in an acoustic duo, where I'll play guitar, bass, keys or whatever is needed.

Currently not gigging too often. Will pick up a gig as a fill in every now and then. I actually love the freedom of not being in a full time band but I miss the money. Stlil have problems with GAS. Waiting on a new Brubaker Brute Single Cut bass. Gassing for a new bass cab. The choice had been narrowed down to a Glasstone LIL G. Avatar is making a new 15/6/1 cab for a good price. If they made a 12/6/1 or a 1212/6/1 I might change my mind. Thinking about getting back out with a band full time. Sometimes the grind is too much and takes the joy out of playing especially if the band leader is a Designated Hitter if you know what I mean.

Been in an singer-songwriter group for about 2 years playing bass or rhythm guitar as needed. Gigging 3 times a month normally. I also play in 2 church bands - one every Saturday and one every Sunday. Enjoy it very much! Just got a new rig, a Fender Bassman 100T and the matching Neo 410 and everytime I plug in my Tele Bass, I want to weep at the tones that are generated. Now if I could just get my wife to understand any of this then my life would be perfect!

I have several music related projects I am working on (in addition to my other work). My primary cover band, which is in its 12th year, does about 80 shows a year. I am doing a side band that does a combination of originals and folk rock and blues covers. I am organizing several concerts, festivals, and events all with music acts. I am the co-owner and producer of a nostalgia radio show that we are in the process of getting on the air. I am in discussions with possibly doing another side band or fill in work. Also, I am involved with a recording studio that we are lining up live and studio recording work and commercial and jingle work.

Main band is playing 2 - 3 gigs a month on average. Mostly bars but some private functions. We're primarily a rock coverband - covering everything from the 60s through current rock - though we also do a fair amount of reggae, r&b and motown stuff and occassionally more eclectic stuff if the audience is right.

On the side I'm working on arrangements of a number of popular rock tunes for solo guitar to augment my repetoire of Sor, Tarrega, Bach et. al. to try to get some solo restaurant/coffee house kinda gigs.

As of about a year and a half ago, I'm back with a band that previosuly kicked me out. We are currently auditioning lead guitar players to replace the prima-donna @$$hole who insisted I be kicked out, and then proceded to rip the rest of the band apart. Apparently, it got pretty ugly after I was gone. We rehearse weekly and are gigging about once a month (single set of originals, mostly). We're having a great time. It's a very relaxed and fun group of guys.

I have nothing against Avatar... I can almost guarantee you'll be kicking yourself when you finally hear one of these cabs. Hard. With possibly both feet. I know I would.

Playing in Heavy Southern Metal outfit Meet At Sundown (Link Removed) <---shameless

having to turn down gigs we're getting so many offers. have developed some haters because we wont work with pay to play or pre sale ticket venues. the haters are the people "booking" for these venues. sometimes getting payed, getting ready to record a full length album. Our fan base seems to have really grown over the past 3 months.

lots of good things.. hoping to keep it up.

My main band is Cassandra Syndrome, a female-fronted Symphonic Metal band where our vocalist is classically trained in operatic singing. Link is in my signature. We just played our last gig for a nice while (opened for Kamelot!! \m/ ) as we are taking a short break while singerbabe is on vacation then we are going to be writing and recording our third album (which is already about half done, writing-wise).

My other band is actually my first, Midnight Sunrise: a really freaky heavy metal band with elements of Stoner/Doom and lots of crazy evil lyrics :) . We kinda disbanded a year ago due to frustrations within the band but we have been jamming and recording a lot and are preparing to play shows again. And as soon as I take delivery of a new MPD18 I will also be back to work on my own little side project where I develop ideas for my own gratification and learning. It started as a group but when I became too involved in the others, and we had other scheduling issues, it has since been down to just me and whatever friends I'm jamming with on any day. My drummer left the band unexpectedly, so my band is on a little hiatus until we find someone else. It's a bit annoying because we had two gigs lined up for next month and were about to record. I guess the upside is, at least we didn't start recording because that would have left us in the lurch even more.

Currently in a classic rock band, but not sure for how long. I joined probably too quickly, before some drama revealed itself, and the last few days I've been experiencing a little "grass is greener" syndrome. One of the other bands I auditioned for before taking this gig would've probably been a better fit.

Just gigging in a cover band. We're adding new songs and getting as many gigs that we can.

I was also in an originals band for 6 years, but there was no progress and everyone was content just hanging out and basically doing nothing when we were supposed to be writing and rehearsing. I couldn't take it any more so I left.

I also enrolled in a music theory course at the local Music Conservatory. I took theory a long time ago, but I never really needed it so most of it has been lost. I need a refresh!
