no offense intended to Big Al fans , but this is the first one i've seen that i think looks good ...
maybe it's just the pickguard design i don't like ...:hmm:

i played one at the local GC the other day ...
body design ... meh , it's just not for me .
playability was excellent .:D
super neck .:D
electronics were a bit confusing for me , but it was very versatile .:ninja::D

I'm pretty much a Fender styling kinda guy, but I did try this bass {a white one} at GC last week and was MAJORLY impressed. Lotsa tones, fit and finish and ergonomics of this bass were awesome..and I am not a fan of EBMM at all {except Pino's Fretless playing}. I would consider this bass if I had the extra cash for sure.

I'm really not crazy about the looks but I would LOVE to have those electronics on another bass.

I suppose then the "very soon to be debuting @ Summer NAMM" production version of the 25th Anniversary Bass, the "Reflex" will be much to your liking... :D

As for the Big All, its "50s Jetsons-Futuristic" vibe simply doesn't do anything for me - most is the body, but the traditional Music Man headstock on it is the topper. Sterling couldn't come up with some type of modification to the standard or make a "Big Al" version of the Bongo headstocks to better fit visually with the body?

...but for the people that like and damn near *love* it, so much the better - I'm the first to admit the electronics package is amazing, even if it's far too much for "Set It And Forget It!" players like myself. There's a ton of people that dislike the Bongo yet I'd kill for a Dargie Delight II HSp 5-string (I'm a sucker for its "true" futuristic design, toss in an Ebony fretboard, Paua & Abalone inlays and the "Caramel Apple Delight" finish and "You had me at 'Iridescent Finish" - I also dig the hell out of "Flip-Flop" color-shifting finishes :D ) so opinions are like Guitar Center gear: they're often dinged and battered by other people... :smug:

As a bass player named Al, and as a fan of the Big Al 5, I refer you to the first two minutes of the movie ".45", starring Milla Jovovich and Angus Macfadyen.

Rated R... at least. Kind of fun in a dark, depressing sort of way. But I LOVED the first two minutes!

I really love the look of the Big AL with the traditional small/sterling-type headstock...MusicMan!

I'm not as crazy about the Reflex but that's going to be another great one. What neck is on the Reflex/25th? Stingray or Sterling width?
