Mutron III power switch

Plugging in the ac power adapter also disconnects the batteries,

be careful with that : it says in the manual that using the AC power supply whilst batteries are installed, will charge the batteries (though it makes no mention of using rechargeable batteries in the device), and that if batteries are already fully charged (or presumably not rechargeable) it could result in the batteries rupturing / leaking, and damage to the unit.

I'd go for either / or, and I'm currently looking at fabricating a version of the original PSU connector, using 3 metal prongs, some Sugru, and a pair of flying leads to 2 discrete 9V outputs from my pedal board power supply.

I paid a small fortune in about 1978 to have that plug rebuilt. I'm glad I did in retrospect, it was becoming unusable.

The photographer accidentally managed to get the control panel of a Mellotron M400 in each shot. I'm sure it wasn't intentional.

I had the broken connector to the original Musitronics PS-1 rebuilt.

I suppose you could replace the switch with a True Bypass switch.
Not a good move if you plan to sell it to a collector.

But yeah unless you have power, no signal passes through.
And the switch was to save batteries.

Last choice it to put it in a looper.

Yeah, I'm slightly modernising it, by going from the 3 prong, to two flying leads - as used with typical pedal board power supplies, and connecting to two isolated 9V outputs.

Until I get busy with the Sugru, it will just be the two flying leads to two 9V battery connector tabs, in the battery compartment.
