MXR Bass Blowtorch: Anyone Tried One?

I'll be at NAMM on Saturday and i'm going straight to the MXR booth ! I'd been hoping that MXR would get around to making a better bass distortion than the M-80.This one looks like it has everything I want. I've been saving my pennies for a Fulltone Bass Drive but if I like this thing I might reconsider........

i was going to post a thread about this ad, pedal looks great, if smoeone hears anything about a street price please post it, i need to know how much to save after i buy my amp.

looks like it has everything needed and then some. *drool* loving the midshift, 250HZ, 750Hz, and 2KHz are the boosting options.

metal enclosure, looks like it was polished with a sander.

I tried out the Blow torch at NAMM.It was in a long chain of effects so i'm not sure I heard it's true sound. It was better than the m-80 distortion but it was still kind of a fuzzy distortion but thicker than the M-80.It kind of reminded me of the distortion on the Tech 21 Bass XXL but with a lot more options for EQ/ blend.The throw on the EQ seemed to be kind of small and the bass knob pretty much had to be dimed or it sounded thin.However the mid shift positions changed thing in a good way.The blend seemed to offer a good amount of clean signal through and was kind of cool because it was actually the pure signal of your bass being mixed in rather than a mix of clean EQ and distortion/EQ like on the M-80. One thing to note is that it's operated at 18 Volts.Overall it's worth trying out but i'm still leaning towards the Fulltone Bass Drive.They didn't have a street price available but said I could call next week and they would have one.

I played the new MXR Blow Torch pedal at last weeks NAMM show and was blown away(I was offered the one at the show but they sent it to BP mag for a review,but I should have mine in a couple of weeks)to me it's the best distortion pedal on the market for Bass(in my opinion),I spent close to an hour each day with it over a period of 4 days.it had a thickness that really moves like that of a blow torch,not brittle at all(thats one of the things that keeps me from using most Bass distortion pedals)this is definately the distortion pedal for me and I can't waite to get it,it seemed to be very versatile and clean(like a high qaulity piece of high end studio gear)and sustain that seemed to have lasted as long as I wanted,it allowed me to use feedback as if it was a new instrument in itself.again a killer Bass distortion pedal.

I have to say it really has it's own thing happening,I have been searching for the perfect Bass distortion and for me this is it,it seems to be far more versatile than any Bass overdrive,distortion or fuzz pedal I have ever encountered(and I have tried my share)like I mentioned earlier I spent a lot of time with it because from the first moment I gave it a spin I was hooked,(Dunlops artist rep asked me to check it out for some players feedback)it has the ability to get as thick as you like and never lose it's biting edge(that's what really got my attention,because for me most pedals couldn't maintain that much needed bottom while allowing me the proper upper bite)without getting to brittle but it also has the ability to give a razors edge snap as well and if you really want warmth from a Bass distortion,seriously this is one pedal that will not disappoint at all.Again I was blown away and I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of mine.
