MXR Bass Dirt Pedals

According to the MXR website, they collaborated with Ryan Ratajski on the Bass Distortion.

Hm, forgive my unobservantness, I was at a Steel Panther gig last night and my brain isn't all that right now.
Second this. They're not bad pedals, but nothing specatacular for dirt. Their utility pedals and envelope filter are solid for me, and I use their SmartGate and envelope filter. I've had the BFD and Bass Overdrive, and neither held up to other dirt in the same range for me. The distortion, however, does intrigue me. Need to find a decent Rat, and that might just get a turn.
For my preferred pedals in the same price range, try another Dunlop brand - Way Huge! The Swollen Pickle is the best non-boutique fuzz out there, and the Pork Loin is the most versatile and usable OD out there in my opinion. Pretty much every Way Huge pedal is great if you ask me. One of my go to brands if I need a new tone.
Just order a Cat Tail from @rratajski and the Fuzzrocious family, save some time and heartache.
Yup. The real deal is much better than the MXR distortion.
Kinda like watching a movie in the theater versus watching the edited pan & scan version on TV.
Thanks, gents. Always wanted a Fuzzrocious, anyways! Guess I haven't seen anyone compare both. Would you say Ryan makes "the" Rat? It's about the only big name dirt I don't have a good version of (I have muff, OCD, Tubescreamer variants/clones etc.) for bass. The Rat I have is a great little Eno, but it's terrible on bass. Great for guitar!

If you can find a @dunwichamps Volt Thrower, it's worth the investment. I won't twist your arm to get something from Fuzzrocious or the MXR Bass Distortion though!
Same here, had them all, sold them all. Out of those 3 (Overdrive, Bass Fuzz Deluxe, Distortion) i liked the Distortion the most, but also sold it after some weeks, no luck with MXR dirt. But i still like MXR pedals in general, my last purchase was the new MXR Phase 95 Mini, a winner.
I just got the M85 Bass Distortion. I haven't had a chance to fully vet it as I have been playing through a DI in to my PA. I am going to try to find some time over the next few weeks to do a demo and compare against a couple of other pedals.
Sa far , on it's on, it sounds great. However, when playing it with music, it seems to not be a present as a couple of other pedals that don't sound as good in a one-to-one with no music. I am going to give it a run with my live rig this weekend and see how it goes.

I initially liked the Bass OD and the Bass Dist, then I started to realize how they were pretty thin and fizzy sounding.
Had the mxr bass distortion sold it and went the Darkglass route and am happy I did but the mxr bass distortion in particular is a great pedal for the money. I may end up getting another one at some point for my noodling setup at home but the b7k is definetly what I needed for my band.

Just going to go ahead and apologize for the bad joke. Fuzzrocious makes great pedals tho!
Had the Bass Overdrive for a little bit, but what they don't tell you is that the clean knob isn't really your clean tone. Plus, it never really cleaned up, there was always a lot of dirt even at low gain settings. The best thing I could do was to almost dime the clean knob and keep the drive at around 9:00. It just wasn't as versatile as I wanted it to be, though I did think it sounded good.
Oh yeah, forgot to say that I have the MXR M80 Bass DI+. It's a good multi-role box with distortion and clean sides, three band EQ, and DI. The distortion is on the modern side with a slight natural scoop to it, but you can play with the EQ to give it different voices. Built like a tank too.
