MXR Bass Octave Deluxe - Tracking PROBLEM - BOO HISS!

I went back to my EBS Octabass (version 1 - which to my ears, is still the best version) tonight on a rehearsal and couldn't have been any happier to have my old friend back.

I'm going to try to exchange my BOD for a new one and see if I just got a lemon. I'll keep you posted!

sometimes there isn't any need to upgrade ;)

it's certainly possible you got yourself a dud. If the BOD is built like the Carbon Copy was/is, then we are likely to see a lot of them. And even more that get messed up wehn somebody steps on the knobs in the dark :ninja:

But wait . . . there is trouble in the forest . . .

If you are quoting "The Trees" by RUSH, the correct quote is " there is unrest in the forest, there is trouble with the trees"

Funny you bumped an old thread for this... :p I don't know if thats what he was quoting, but a quick search led to this:

Rush - The Trees

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw

Any idea what this noise could be guys?
Bought in 2nd hand via Talkbass.

When the pedal is on and that I turn on one of the 2 effects (growl and/or girth), there is some loud noise coming out. The noise doesn't come out when I only turn the dry signal on the pedal.
I did some troubleshooting: pedal on it's own, different power supplies, batteries, different cables, different bass guitars, different amps, different MXR pedals, and the result is always the same, namely abnormal and omnipresent noise.
I've recorded the noise with my phone so that you can hear it too. Unfortunately it just makes the pedal unusable for me.
