I'm wondering, have any of you tried putting a capo on a long scale bass in the name of shortening the scale?

You got it dude! It took about a week to get used to it but when I use this bass I never throw my thumb over the top (bad habit, bad technique, hurts wrists) and it feels just great for accessing upper frets. My thumb rests on the flat part on the back on lower frets and jumps down to the lower ramp past the 12th fret.

NBD! Picked up this beaut for next to nothing to try the capo trick on. Works great! That humbucker has a lot of punch.
