My Buddy's Bass & Rig...

Hey Guys,
I just thought some of you may appreciate this... My buddy (G****r Player) is all about vintage, he's actually got a DB750/DB212 rig that's taken a backseat to this set up because of his quest for the vintage tone... Fortunately for me, the Aguilar rig is on a "long term" hold till I can afford it!

The bass is an MIJ Fender Jazz - I've only seen one other like it on eBay after he bought one so I don't know how many are around - I call it the Bling J or Prince bass. Strung w/ Pyramid flats.

The rig is a Germino Headroom amp wired as a Marshall Superbass... For those who are not familiar, Germino is a boutique guitar amp maker specializing in recreating vintage old school Marshall-type amps like a JTM45, etc.

The cab was built by my buddy, he bought the empty shell and loaded it with Celestions...

Though I'm not your full on vintage guy and this set up is not quite for me I still have a lot of fun playing it!

What do you think?

Thanks for the kind words!

All-original MIJ Fender. Simply passive with nothing fancy at all :)

Here are a few pics with the other rig . I play mostly classic rock and can't wait to use the Germino Headroom 100 (Super Bass) driving four Celestion BL12-200X speakers.

Nice bass. Kind of looks like something Larry Graham would play....2 questions - Did he mod the pickguard to hotrod the electronics or something? and why does your guitar playing friend have such nice hi-end bass gear? Im quite envious of the Aggie rig.

Well, there he is - Simply Passive. He answered 1 question... About the high end gear, well... He has high end everything, even that drum kit partly pictured is a Tama Starclassic.

When our old band used to rehearse at his place, all the gear was already set up in his living room and it was plug & play for the band members!
