My Cat made my AMP his scratching post!

if no one has suggested it.........

if the carpet is just "fuzzed" you can try using a clippers to "shave" the raised carpet fuzz off. I have had cat issues myself, and this works pretty well to get rid of the raised fuzz on the cab caused by the cat.

Years ago when I had two cats (I lost 'em in the divorce.), they tried clawing my amp as well as the sub-woofer for my stereo. I got the anti-cat spray and followed the directions. For some weird reason, it didn't have much effect on the puddys. SOOOOOOOOOO, I waited until I caught them in the act and maced their ass with the anti-cat spray. Neither cat would go anywhere NEAR my cab or the woofer after just one application.

I love all the animals, by the way. De-clawing is just wrong, as is "bobbing" a dog's tail or ears, IMO. My girlfriend has what may be the only long-tailed, long eared Doberman in the world. Rommel (I got to name him.) looks pretty cool!

Interesting. How about piercings, tattoos and circumcision for humans?

Piercings, tattoos and circumcisions are COMPLETELY different. Declawing a cat would be the same as cutting off each and every one of your fingers at the first knuckle without any drugs to ease the pain. Bobbing and clipping ears is also now illegal to do in Canada, they also are tasks where the pain is involuntary, extreme and harms the animal. Do you not think that dogs have tails or big ears for a reason other than "looking nice"? Animals are here for our enjoyment, but they feel pain and have feelings too, treat them humane or don't complain when they are dicks back to you.

If you de-claw an adult cat it will whack them out. They will have a hard time dealing with the fact that pieces of their paw was removed and they may get weird on you. This hapened to my friends cat. You can declaw a kitten and they will deal with it but it's still kinda cruel.

We tried the sprays and they didn't work on our cats. We tried several of them and none of them worked on the cats to keep them off of things. One worked real good on us. we had to leave the room after spraying it but it didn't bother the cats much.

My cats use my Ampeg as a place to sit on at night. It has the tolex cover so they don't want scratch it but I keep the the whole amp covered with a small comforter my wife made to prevent them from scratching the grill cloth when it's not being used.

It isn't just that. If your cat ever strays, It will not be able to defend itself or to hunt for survival. A clawless cat outside has a really tough time of it and is less likely to eventually find it's way home safely.

I have found that a simple plant sprayer works pretty well when needed.

It's a sign of your cat's intelligence that he can identify Nice Things to scratch. You obviously have a discerning cat and also a quality amp.

The solution is really simple: save up for a while, maybe cash in some stock, and buy an authentic Persian rug. Keep it in the same room as the amp. You'll never have the same problem again.
