On my home board i also just got a farm hammonds organs and the subway 2 so life is pretty good haha
They don't come up to often and it need some eq after but the tone is so cool. Very vintage sound with almost it sounds like different breakup for different frequencies stacked. It's one of my favorites. Farm makes great dirt. I also have the spirit animal and it's great for medium gain. They have a new one called chariot ascending which is the spirit animal but with double the gain. It's probably great i love the spirit animal. Pretty sure it's based off the 250.Okay
I've never heard about the hammond's organs, but now I want one.
Much to explore.

Have you experimented with scoops? I admit that I have not even thought about it yet, and that I like to boost very high up, between 3 o'clock and maximum.

When experimenting yesterday, I had the two controls confused.
More tone exploration today knowing I was an idiot yesterday.
I also have not. Between a 2 month old and a 2 and a half year old there’s not a lot of time left for twiddling knobs. I actually left the board half torn apart after my last experiment. I don’t usually do much scooping, but more of a notch right around 250Hz to clean up a little muddiness. But that’s also end of chain shaping, maybe I’ll try it at the front with the Drive.
That said,
This is where I landed with my black Spector, which has a haz clone dimed and is pretty hot
Gain is at minimum, and with varying degrees of touch can go from light to drive.
I dig the touch sensitivity of it.
Also went through the advanced settings, moved boost to post, and changed VU LED to green, because I liked it better.
A precursory reading of the manual almost had me thinking this was more complicated than it should be.
But, getting out of my own way showed me it's simpler than it seems.
What I really dig about the pedal is that you can also alter the state in which it powers on.
My Origin DCX defaults to 'on' when it's powered. That's really well when used on the big board where it is located in a loop of the switcher, but when used on my small board as high gain OD, I'd prefer it to default to off.
It's great that the Empress can switch that to whatever you like.

The amount of effort that went into the drive is really well thought out, and incredibly useful to the end-users.
So far, the only things I can think of to make this a "bass" version, is internal trimpots for the HPF of pre-boost, and LPF for the clean. And eliminate the gate so boost can be used independently.
So far, I'm happy as is.
I don't own this pedal...yet. But I scoop the mids on my Tone Hammer DI...which might be of some importance as there is some similarity between those two IMOHO (mids before drive, bass and treble after drive...). Tone Hammer doesn't feature clean blend though...
Tone Hammer EQ is located between Drive and output, no pre-gain mids (as far as I know).
This is a bit of a different animal IMHO because the Tone hammer with all knobs at noon and drive / AGS off is as flat as the earth in Mark Sargent's mind.
I know I was quite surprised to measure that from the pedal, because I've been using a Tone Hammer 500 amp for more than a decade now and I'd say it has a fat sound, leaning towards warm, with gentle treble that's never harsh .
Most bass amps have a baked-in sound with some mid-scoop going on in the neutral position, so reducing some of the mids on the Tone Hammer is basically catering towards that.
I would swear that it's pre-gain as the saturation increases when I raise mids.. But my brief online research shows that you might be right...

With AGS on, it's even "worse".
This is with gain off and EQ at noon. You see the flat response without AGS, and with AGS on, you see how not onle the treble drops off from around 2k onwards, but also how there is a bit of a bass cut and a bit of a bump in the 400-500Hz area.
I'd guess you'd have to run the bass knob at 1 o'clock and the mids at 11 o'clock @450Hz to get somewhat balanced/flat sound out of it with AGS on.
What's your audition order for this clip? I really like whatever you switch on at 0:19.
FIrst bit is no effect (just compression and preamp), second bit is the Fake Plastic Trees and third bit is the Empress Drive.
