My drummer is killing me

It got a bit contentious at warm-up when he came in early on a fill but he hit it at the gig. I am going to not say anything for now. Yesterday was a lot of driving but the show went well. By the time I have to do this again I should be rested and ready to play another show. Hanging in there for now.

Really good to hear. I do think you guys need to get your feeler out now for a replacement. It’s actually better for everyone involved if his dismissal is not an acrimonious one but rather framed as what’s best for the band. When you find a new guy, that’s a much easier conversation: “We’ve found someone else” rather than “You’re out!”

I've said it before but it bears repeating. Either drummers have "it" or they don't. He can improve a little but he's just not gonna wake up one day and his time and feel just fall into place.

He could also spontaneously combust or choke to death on someone else's vomit. After all, he is a drummer.

I would not count on that! Some of these beasts are hard to get rid of...

Most band problems just need a good conversation (incl. pizzas and a six- pack) to get someone "on track".

In that special case, maybe get some "olio piccante" for the drummer' s pizza...

the extra spicy one!!!!

I think he put in some serious practice time and was able to stick the gig, including a song he was having trouble with. If he is able to continue to do that, I don’t have a problem. He has not always put in the time in the past and definitely did not do that before the last rehearsal when I started this thread. As long as he can keep doing it, then we are okay. I wish it came more naturally to him but he seems to be putting the time in at least for now.
