My Father Will Pass On Shortly

Ray, I've been thinking about this all afternoon, on and off. What you said about still having your Dad's music reminded me of Link Removed by an Irish singer-songwriter pal of mine here in Birmingham, Tom Martin. I really hope you can hear what he was trying to say with this one.

for your father and you and your family. Sounds like your Dad was a pretty wise man.

Glad to hear how he influenced you and that you have a solid relationship. As a father myself, this is something I aspire to with my own children. Thanks to him for his wisdom.

Godspeed to you both.
Tom

Ray,

I wept when I read this. Not just because you're losing your beloved father in this life, but because it is an example of a great bond between father and son.
What you've had sounds like it has been so special an it is unfortunate that the time has come to part ways in this world.
You're a good son, and it sounds like he's been a good dad to the end. I only hope my son can speak so well of me when my time has come.

James

Ray,

I'm praying for your father, for you, and for the gift of your farewell visit. I lost my father 30 years ago, when he was 45 and I was 17. It just happened, like turning off a light. We were talking when it happened, and suddenly he was just gone. I've often wondered what I might have said to him if I'd known the end was coming. I hope your visit will be a time of joy for both of you.

Thanks to all for the thoughts and prayers. I got to the hospice about 10:30am and had a few precious hours with him before he passed away later that afternoon. We laughed, cried and even sang a few together. My only regret is that my four sisters could not get down in time.

My step-mom (who is a year younger than me BTW) and I have been running around getting all in place for his funeral on Saturday. She has asked me to deliver his eulogy and I have managed to put my heart on paper at last.

He taught me many lessons throughout our lives together and even more so on his last day. Thanks again to you all.

Best Holiday Wishes From My Family To Yours!!

I forgot to attach this pic of him. Cheers!

The same here.
My prayers for you and your family.

I know I'm late here but I'll be adding my prayers later today at church.
My dad passed away back in April so I know how hard it is. We got to spend a good amount of time with him at the end and my 13 year old son was exceptionally good about visiting him in the Hospice unit.

And be thankful you got there in time for those last few precious hours with him. Thats time you'll always cherish and remember.
