I don't work in that industry, but I'm doubtful that telephone wire is shielded.

I've seen both solid and stranded telephone wire, but I think they are usually solid though. The problem with solid wire is that it's not as flexible and it's more prone to breaking.

22AWG shielded 4 conductor wire can definitely be found cheaper than $1 per foot. Quick Google search comes up with 11 cents.:hyper:

Ok, 77 cents a foot sounds about right. (Though that out-of-stock 30 cent wire is tempting. I would shoot them an email and ask when they are expecting a shipment of wire to come in.)
Not sure if you need 100 feet though.

I figure that you need about a foot per pickup, right?
So that's enough to make 50 pairs of pickups. That should keep you stocked up for a while, and $77 isn't that big of a business expense to have to shell out.

$60 per pup and $5 for shipping, so a set would be $120 plus $5 for shipping. Also have a 30 day money back guarantee and the pups have a lifetime warranty.
I've got the following sizes available; EMG -35, 40, 45. Bart- BC, P2, P4. J bass-4 & 5, P bass-4, 5, 6. J & P sets. EMG-81. Strat. The J's and Strat are available in single coil, split (in-line) coil, or a combo of both.

That's quite a deal actually.:hyper:

Is that just the "introductory rate" as you are gaining knowledge and experience as a pickup builder, or do you plan to always keep your prices that low?

I plan to keep the prices low, I'll probably go up to $65-$70 per pup after awhile. At first it was costing me $7-$8 per pickup to make, now with the casting it's around $10-$11 per pup. The labor is a little more too. The nice thing about doing this is my garage stays cleaner than when I build basses, there's no saw dust everywhere...lol..
