My first multiscale (experimental)

Okay, I can’t help myself. This will wind up being Rickenbacker styled. I’m just in love with their designs these days. So it’ll either be this:

Funny you should ask: Pickups similar to Rickenbacker

As of now it looks like Big Blades.

Or maybe carrots, to go with that carrot shaped bass. Resistance is futile!

Haha I was actually going to suggest you check out Lace Bassbars. I think either those or the Big Blades would be a good choice, at least in terms of not having pole piece alignment issues to be concerned about. I've never used Lace Alumitones, but from the clips I've heard they have a much more "vintagey" sound than their modern look implies.

Are you putting the pickups in the fanned-fret-equivalent of traditional Ric positioning?
