My First NBD - PBass content

So I went our local guitar shop, really thinking I would find an upper-end Squier (I'm unabashedly only a hobbyist, with a kid in college, and can't justify the cash for American-made) and they had this:

I'd been looking for a Mike Dirnt model, because I like the early 50's body and neck style, but wanted the split-P pickup. Because this MIM is a few years old, the proprietors were willing to deal. A new set of flats and a setup later, and she's riding home with me to join the family.

Thanks! Somehow, I can't seem to put this one down--I'm really enjoying the thump of the flats with the Precision pickup, especially since its been about 10 years since I've had flats, and longer since I've had a Precision. Way too long...

Congrats! Great looking P-bass.
New P-day for me too, and like you, I strung mine with flats, only its been about 20 years since I've had flats.
That warm thumpy sound is great, and as you said - way too long...:bassist:

D'Addario's. Given that this bass was a demo model, the shop offered to clean it up, put new strings on, and perform a setup. I took whatever flatwounds they had in stock (there weren't many). I'm still playing "getting to know you" with it, and will probably go with a set of Rotosound Jazz in the future.

Thanks! I agree--Fender has done a good job with this one. They must have noticed it, too--for 2015, they've got two colors in the Squire line, and in the Fender line, they've gone from being a MIM signature model to a Road Worn (with the corresponding price increase).
