My Frist Bass

This does not look like professional work to me : electronics compartment not fitting well, same for the pickup, neck joint looks weird, uneven string spacing at the nut, pickup not centered under the strings, etc. Do you usually see this on a factory/luthier-made instrument?
I'm betting on an amateur made bass.

Yes after looking your correct, But still not a bad job. The nut is not right the strings are a bit too close(this is an easy fix for me, I will by bone) I build and restore guitars as a hobby also so fixing the issues I also now see I think it will be fun to do this project. A new nut and bridge that will better aline the strings. My Custom showcase Les paul I restored it took many years to get it the way I wanted it. But the lights are a bit much. I have my work cut out for me...

lol the way I pictured your story is hilarious.... you spotting the bass, barrel rolling out of the car, jumping in the back while the car is still moving and booking it out of there....

Anyways to contribute to the thread, it looks to me like either a custom job or someone took the parts from a bunch of import basses and put them together to form a superbass....

Thanks again for all the responses, I need to clarify that the bass not a "First" brand but no brand but that Christian fish and two notes at the headstock. I was looking for names or serial numbers associated with it. Nothing....

I am a guitarist this is the first bass I own now... LOL

That logo I have seen somewhere but have no recollection where...

How come the only instrument I hear someone finding in a dumpster is a bass. Ironically, I found one in the dumpster of the salvation army.

What a remarkable find. Looks like someone put alot of love into what appears to possibly be a custom or homebuilt instrument. We'll probably never know, but I'd love to hear the story behind this bass.

I also knew someone years ago who found a bass in a dumpster in Calgary, whats up with that ? if you have an old unwanted bass just take it to any elementary or high school music departement, they usualy love to have donated instruments, I work in a high school and they get all my used bass strings, so dont throw away your slightly used bass strings, give them to your local school ! at this point I would just call that bass The First !
