My Future Roscoe

I asked Roger at THG Knobs to make me a set of matching knobs for my Roscoe. I think they turned out killa-dilla!! Roger's a super dude, and his prices are very reasonable.

These were made from some scraps cut from my body (non-humping ones, thank goodness!!), so they should match quite nicely when all is said and done.

Next Monday is my drop dead date (I leave for Vic's camp on Tuesday), and Gard says it's lookin' pretty tight... I might be Wooten camping with my Warwick :( I'm sure they'll try like hell to get it done, but I'd rather have it done right than to meet some arbitrary deadline.

Everyone please send good vibes Roscoe's way... may the neck carving and fretting go super smoothly!!

Oh, yeah, Roger can make the knobs from his own stock of wood. Just send him a pic of the bass, and he can match the flame and the blue color. Of course, he's also done some cool contrasting knobs. Plain maple (white) might look really hip against your blue. Lots of possibilities.

The stacks actually match the top knobs. The bases of the stacks are inverted in the pic. When turned around, you have the Koa on top, a Maple line, a Wenge laminate and then the Ash body.

CrashClint and I were at the shop on Thursday hoping to view some sweet ROSCOE bass creation! But *sigh* the router was broken and nothing was being cut.

Now, Crash & I are always on the lookout for the rest of our fellow Roscoeheads. . . we try to help out where we can. Keeping your needs lifted way up high! :smug:

We noted that Greg's Koa bass has got to be completed before Vic's camp--we knew we're on a tight deadline. Crash and I thought "what could we do" to move production along? Well, being the ever handy and always helpful guys that we are. We grabbed some shop tools and went to work carving out the one-of-a-kind Barden Jazz pups for Greg's Koa bass.

Here's Crash holding and aiming the chisel and me swinging the 4lb SLEDGE HAMMER!?!

We were quick learners and any "learning curve" blemishes can be sanded out--or so Gard has assured us.

And dang, ain't that bass purty? I don't think even those two yokels could mess it up!

I've been playing different Roscoes here in the shop all morning, getting more and more excited. They all sound different - what will MY Roscoe sound like?!?! The Bardens are a bit of an unknown, but I THINK they'll do great things for a Roscoe...

I finally broke the news to the wife about my getting a new bass (I HAD to sell something first), and now I think my 7 year old son is more excited about it than I am. He gave me a giddy "Daddy, do you have your new Roscoe yet?" this morning... followed immediately by some heavy sighing and eye rolling from the wife. Life is grand!

"Saminumbatch. Route out that fargin' pickup slot, that fargin' pickup slot, and that fargin' pickup slot.... Wait? You routed out three fargin' pickup slots? Now I'm really fargin' angry."

Gard, how do you guys get anything done at the shop with those loiterers causing grief for poor Greg? :D And I have to admit...painful as it is...the first thing I noticed in the pic wasn't that gorgeous koa action, but rather the, umm, interesting choice of wristwatchery on Adam's behalf. Dude...what's next...your Swatch collection? :D

I think we're in for a yellow watch next trip to the shop... maybe green... we should start a pool. 5 Roscoe Points (worth absolutely nothing) to the winner... I'm probably overstepping my bounds by throwing out Roscoe Points, but Gard be danged!!
